Getting fit on the farm
CHILDREN will be working out on the farm as a Dorset children’s attraction prepares to hold a series of exercise sessions.
Farmer Palmer’s in Organford, near Poole, has invited FitKid – an organisation helping to promote fitness and striving to reduce childhood obesity – to run fun an energetic workout at the farm park.
Children aged 3 to10 years are welcome to take part in the exercise classes on May 27th and 29th and on June 29th.
Nicky Kay, Managing Director of FitKid, said: “We usually work in nurseries, schools and leisure centres so exercising on a children’s farm will be a very exciting environment for us.
Childhood obesity is a national problem and it is fantastic to work with Farmer Palmers, to encourage more children to get active and lead a healthier lifestyle. As well as encouraging children to be energetic and use their muscles, we want them to have fun and this event shows that Children can get active in a variety of locations”
Sandra Palmer of Farmer Palmer’s said: “The little ones tend to go home pretty tired after a day running about and playing here – FitKid will give them a taste of structured, fun exercise and I hope they’ll be inspired to join in exercise classes on a more regular basis.
“The animals are used to seeing children playing but they might be a little baffled by the sight of dozens of children exercising in sync.”
